Promoting Your Business with Stickers: What You Need to Know
Whether consumers are watching television, going to the movies, surfing the net or driving down the street, they are bombarded with advertisements at all angles these days. It is nearly impossible to escape the constant barrage of advertisements that are begging for the consumer’s attention. This makes it increasingly difficult for business owners to make their own marketing efforts stand out. Not only do they need to have advertisements that capture attention but they need to create a way to be remembered above the competition. One effective form of marketing, that is even more enticing because of its affordability, is promoting your business with stickers. Stickers are one of the most under-utilized tools that are available to you. Stickers are a form of marketing that allow you to provide a product to the consumers, not just a thirty second clip about your ongoing sale. You can hand out stickers as a gift to current and potential clients and, if you have the right design, your stickers will continue working for you beyond the initial recipient. But how do you get the right combination of compelling design and effective marketing?
Research
Before you start the process of designing a sticker for your business, take a look around. Do any of your competitors use stickers to promote their business? If so, do you think their design is effective? And how would you improve upon it? Are there other promotional stickers that you have received in the past that made an impact in your mind? What was it that made that sticker so memorable? Was it an interesting use of an image? Maybe it was a humorous saying or though-provoking quote. What type of sticker design resonates with you? This is important because you are a consumer too. And you do not have to go far outside of yourself to see what works and doesn’t work in the mind of a consumer. Make a list of things you hope to incorporate into your sticker design and what you hope to avoid with your stickers.
Find Your Purpose
Once you know what stands out to you with sticker design, you need to further narrow your focus and decide what purpose your stickers will be playing. Are you further establishing brand identity? Are you promoting a particular product or service? Do you want to commemorate a significant milestone that your company is celebrating? Pinpointing exactly what you hope to accomplish with your stickers will drive your design. Make a concise list of your targeted goals that you want to accomplish through the use of your stickers.
Design Wisely
So you now have in your mind and, hopefully on paper, the “how” and “why” behind your stickers. Now comes the fun part of designing and making those hows and whys come together. Your printing company will most likely have a variety of templates that you can work with to come up with the right style. If you aren’t entirely sold on the templates, then you can work with their in-house graphic destin team to create something really unique and special. There are so many features that you can play around with – from die cut patterns, to clear stickers, to bumper stickers and beyond. Your “how” and “why” will help you to determine the best design risks to take, which is why they are so important to develop before you get to the design process. In the end, they can be one of the most effective ways to tell people about your business and all that you have to offer.
